Are you shooting lead, coated or jacketed? I use WST for lead/coated bullets and Titegroup for plated/jacketed bullets.

I run WST with jacketed too. It may be the best .40 powder there is for gamer loads. (IMO)

For defense loads I'd try Power Pistol or similar.

+ 1 on the WST. And for what I pay it comes out to be like 1.1 cents/round.

In order 320, WST, TG.
All three get the job done.

Best bang for the buck WST.
Best powder of the three in my opinion 320.
Works and is cheap TG

Of course YMMV

Titegroup is very economical. If you want some perspective, though, switching to N320 costs about $0.01 more per cartridge loaded.

I'm also going to start loading .40.
Since I have a large stock of Blue Dot, and it's a recommended powder for .40, as well as shotgun heavy loads. I'll start out with it.

BD can be very temp sensitive
Please read the notice on Blue Dot from the man.
I would go with WSF or Unique if you want a SG powder as well for near the same PF when you decide to try a differnt powder. That is why I keep Clays, WST, and WSF around. But I likes 320 a lot :) for an action pistol powder. Some like 310, but I am to CS to push it with heavy for caliber bullets. AA5 is not a bad powder but I have not tried it in the SG nor have I seen it listed for SG. It falls near WSF and Unique.
