Dust off the M2 Ball, the 30-06 is not dead.

The 30-06 is a great cartridge for hunting. I'm not a hunter anymore since I got older and my heart got soft on me. If I was hungry, that would change fast.

When I did hunt deer, 30-06 was my favorite in a Winchester model 70 bolt action. That was a great rifle. I also used to still hunt deep fields of winter wheat. For those 400 to 500 yard shots, I had a Browning A-bolt with a 26 inch barrel in .300 Winchester Magnum. That was my favorite way to hunt. I used to love those long shots. That rifle could put one through a keyhole at 400 yards.

Mind you, I said the rifle could do that. I didn't say the shooter could.:)

I prefer the M14 however I have a Winchester, an H&R + 1 SA. All 3 have been used by us for WWII matches, no Match guns
using M2 ball in 8 rd, En bloc clips. All three shot their hearts out with a 2 minute group at 100 yds. It shot big groups at 600 for sure but
we still hit the targets just not too many Xs & 10s just pure reliability 100%. Oh PS: I kept looking for my mag in Offhand  it's where rest
my hand with the M1A in offhand. ;)

As the 350 is to chevy, 3006 is to Winchester. It is the 45 acp to rifle rounds. Proven over and over, I wish I didn't see that video because I'm a nostalgic nut,and that marvel he had was gorgeous. Thanks for putting me 4300 in the hole.

Most things that people say are dead, not saying you, you're just asking the question, but you hear same thing about single stack compact 9mm's, Ruger EC9S for example, 40 S & W, 45 Gap etc, too many firearms of these calibers to "die", always fun topic though

Hope all you Fanatics had awesome holidays

Boy, I hope it ain't!!! First rifle I ever fired was my Uncle's 30-06....I think I was about 12 or 13...thing kicked like the dickens! LOL....

I have a SWEET M1 Garand built by Springfield Custom for Camp Perry type matches that I obtained from a fellow Officer.....chambered in 30-06. It's such a sweet shooter.

Maybe if the rumors continue, the prices will come down! LOL...

Nice! I left out part of my post, when people say something dead "it's not dead", left out not dead part, senior moment I guess

With all the M2 ball overseas were far from running out ;) . Some day we may be in a war, where we need that .30 caliber muscle again.
It came in handy just about all over the world, we have been handing out M1s to little Army's ever since WWII.

I use my M1as for Comp, & shoot the M1s at WWII matches, in Honor of my Dad Ret, CWO-4 who said his best friend in Germany was his M1.
Never will I convert my M1s into 7.62x51, they are 7.62x63 M2, 30-06 & will stay that way.

It's so popular that you can find ammo everywhere.

Long live the 30-06
