I had this on a watch list because I found it interesting.

comped 1911.jpg

I'm not familiar enough with comped 1911s to tell if that's a bushing compensator and there weren't any pics from the front to see how everything is put together. None of the pics showed a set screw or anything to suggest it's threaded onto the barrel.

What say ye?

Meh.........
It's threaded onto the barrel and indexes over the barrel bushing. When the barrel is out of battery, the comp can be unthreaded from the barrel. Generally there is a set screw, but I suppose that doesn't mean they all have a set screw.

Thanks, that makes sense. There may be a set screw but the pics weren't the greatest so I may have looked past it.

It's hard to say. I have seen a few guys with the at a local pin shoot, theirs have setscrews. Doesn't mean all do. I'm sure someone with a bit more experience will post soon.
