$100 for an "assault rifle" and $50 for the rest!!! Do they even give you lube before they screw you. No criminal is going to trade a gun for a grocery card when they would just use the gun to rob the damn grocery store.

Kilmer said guns used in crimes, including gang retaliations, are often stolen from "good people", so buybacks at least eliminate some firearms that would have otherwise been available to criminals.

And some of the guns they "buy" will be stolen guns that were used in crimes. So they're giving criminals who stole guns money for stolen property. Where i come from, that's accessory after the fact. When they discover that a gun is on the NCIC database as stolen, I wonder if they will then return it to the rightful owner? Wouldn't that gun the be going "back on the street"?

Stupid is as stupid does.
