In may of 2020 I shipped my Colt 1911C off to NHC for MY version of the Colt/Hawk. I changed a lot of things: 25lpi front strap checkering, tapered mag opening, novak thumb safety, colt cmdr hammer, most all small parts EGW, NHC.

The build was compromised timewise by covid, a stolen election and finally an epic winter storm. But its home and I couldn't be happier. Bob Reeves and his team at NHC knocked this custom build outta da park. It was worth the wait and Bob was a perfect to work with, I changed a lot along the way, but it didn't seem to phase Bob at all, he handles it all like the professional he is. A big thank you and shout out to Bob Reeves and his team and NHC and Mr. Stone for still operating an old school custom shop!!!

Oh yeah for those that believe a custom build must have an aftermarket barrel, this Colt barrel with new bushing and flush cut and target crown, properly fit on a EGW slidestop shoots less than 1" 3 shot groups at 15yards. As verified by test target. I don't shoot that well, but I AM THRILLED!!!

Enjoy the pics, they do not do the finished product justice

Yep, I can't "save" for a specific gun purchase to save my azz. Something always comes along that catches my eye. This custom build worked well, cause I knew it was coming due, I actually did save. I'm a liar, I bought all along but did sell some that had no attachment to me.

Thanks, G, they are my favorite. Not sure why they resonate so passionately in me. Might be the prancing pony, shooting with my Dad and his war buddies out back in the cornfield or carrying my own during my service. But whatever it is, its strong.

This one has a nice slide to frame fit, not Baer tight , and doesn't rattle. It's the reason I kept it even with the rollmark anomoly on slide right side. Doesn't bother me and ,I believe, makes it fairly unique

Thanks all for the cudos. You guys are the best.

Hmm, I think you're on to something . I can't think of three better reasons to treasure the Colt .

She sure is a beauty.

I'm not well studied on the pony anomaly you mention. Please explain.

FWIW, if you have an anomaly, I want one just like that !

@Rooster left side of slide where it says 45 caliber, I pondered a few days whether or not to accept it as it is, but the pistol is so well fit I decided it added to the interest

Thanks for your kind comments
