I have been asked a few times what load I shoot out of my S&W1911 to produce those big, clean cut holes.

Here is the data.

.45 ACP
200 gr LSWC (Missouri Bullet Co.)
5.7 gr Unique
CCI 300
OAL 1.252 in.

MV = 878.6 fps, n=10
Test gun STI 1911.
Barrel Length 5.0 in.

Thanks to Lonnie D. for measuring the MV.

Thanks for the load info. I bought 500 LSWC bullets, and had real problems with them hanging up on the feed ramp. Looking at your OAL and comparing it to mine, I think I may see the problem. Seated them too deep.

I got 500 of these for free so I worked up a load!

200gr J&K LSWC, 4.9gr Bullseye, 1.253" OAL, Fiocchi LPP, mixed brass. Not much crimp; basically just took the bell out of the case. Averages about 168-170PF out of my 5" 1911.

The 200gr bullets are cheaper than the 230gr so I might switch if there aren't any feeding issues.
