Done the AR, Glock, SIG, etc. builds but wanted something more challenging so decided to move on to the 1911. Instead of starting with an 80% deal I decided to buy a cheap firearm that at least I already knew functioned when I started on it. Instead of spelling out everything I ended up doing to it I just made a list and took a picture. The only thing I'm not happy with is I re parkerized it when I was done and although it's not horrible I wish it was better. I am pretty proud of it and I just thought I would put it out there and get some opinions from people that know more than me. Thank you for any input.

Havent had a chance to do much past just testing and it functions perfectly. I'll get a couple hundred down range this weekend and see how straight it shoots. So far, so good.

Looks GREAT!
I put the Wilson one piece guide rod in my Colt with the 18.5? spring and the heavy firing pin spring. A lot of people bad mouth full length guide rods, but I think any long narrow spring that, when compressed, wants to deflect out sideways in the middle, will just work better with a guide rod down the middle, and I do run the shok-buff in it. I had to take down the feed ramp and polish it to remove Colt's disappointing striations that were machined into it. Other than that, tuning the extractor, & sights.
Oh, I did lower and flair the exhaust port, too.
So I guess you could say the intake and exhaust are ported and polished.
Sorry, Too many hours being a motorhead.
It runs flawless. Ammo with a sharp edge around the hollow point, like hydra-shok, would hang on the striations, whereas gold dots where the copper runs over smooth into the hollow point would feed fine. Now everything feeds fine. I did buy a Bulletproof XS extractor for it, but I don't want to put it in while I'm carrying it. It gets summers off now to spare it from sweat, so I'll test it in it's off season & make sure it runs flawless before carrying it next cold season. Mine looks like it went through WWII from being carried so much.
But what I did in tuning for reliability is nothing compared to the custom gun you built.
It's beautiful, and if you are like me, knowing that you customized it yourself will give you much fulfillment and pride, compared to going out and buying a high end one made by someone else.

The satisfaction of doing something that's not exactly"easy" to do and have it come out right is where it's at for me. I'm working through jhp issues, getting better but not 100% yet. Thanks for compliments.
