Tripp is/was the "T" in STI. One of the original founders. Follow the link that I posted. They are middle range, price wise, of the higher end guns...

Mine was the last one in stock at Dawson Precision, one of the largest distributors of the STI brand. They cut me a deal, got $400 of the price on the Tripp site. They wanted to clear out the last one. I think that they had it for some time. I was watching as they sold off other models over a year or so.

The two Kimbers I have are older and are wonderful. Replaced the trigger parts with CS parts. The only problem was one Kimber extractor would not hold any tension after 10 plus years, understandable, easy fix. Very accurate.
I do have two Springfield Loaded models in 45ACP and 9MM and one or the other always go to the range when I get the chance. They just keep on truckin along. Very accurate too.
I picked up a Les Baer a few years back used, good pistol. But ended up selling it since my Springers and Kimbers would do just as good at the range.
Just could not tie up the $ knowing there was no advantage. Don't get me wrong, Les makes a great pistol, beautiful, tack drivers but to high end for me. If I was in the market for another 1911, I would go with the Loaded Springfields, and with their great customer service and warranty, just hard to go wrong.

Decisions, decisions haha! I have a Kimber Raptor that out of the box has been pretty awesome with 0 issues. That being said, I have several Springfields in different configurations and can whole heartedly recommend them! As Woodlands747 mentioned above the Ronin is a nice gun, I'd say outstanding gun for the price and has become my favorite 1911 in my stable.
I was about to pull the trigger on the Ronin until I discovered it has a PLASTIC trigger! That is a SERIOUS no go. Plastic trigger? Seriously? In a $900.00 1911?? I expect a plastic trigger in my $550.00 new Glocks. First time I've seen a plastic trigger on ANY 1911, period. Cannot believe it! Gotta start from square one. And Dan Wesson's are REALLY nice! But too much at $1200.00+. And why are employees leaving? Story from Norwich, NY. I don't know if it's virus related or something else. Could be just sick workers.

Several STI pistols have plastic triggers. And they cost 2x to 3x that of the Ronin. They can hardly be called junk...

Gentlemen,
I'm TRYING to decide on three 1911's, which one to buy. ALL are, all Stainless steel, all are in the same ballpark price wise. I'm slightly leaning towards the Kimber's because of the "Match grade triggers and match-grade bull barrels", but unsure if Springfield has "match-grade triggers and barrels". Do they? That isn't specified on the Springfield. The Kimber barrels look a lot thicker (bull barrels) No idea?? So, we are talking $900.00 +- for any of the three. What would you buy?? Also, it may not have match-grade triggers and barrels, but is the Springfield as accurate? Is Springfield's warranty better than one year on the Kimber's??? How's Springfield's CS??? Kimber has been VERY nice CS! But VERY SHORT warranty. What say you, if you were buying only one? The contestants are:
1) Kimber Pro Carry II
2) Kimber Target II
3) Springfield E Series
I personally do not buy Kimber; what you are actually buying is the name. For budget 1911s I buy RIA. For midrange I but Ruger SR1911. Just personal preference don't read anything into it.

I would not be concerned with a plastic trigger if that is what it is. As previously stated by someone else STI's have plastic triggers on many of theirs models and they are very good. Springfield would not put junk parts on their gun. They will stand behind them if there is a problem.
That's like saying I would buy that gun because it has MIM parts. If that's the case you should just buy a Dan Wesson or better.
A trigger can be changed for about $20 and is a very easy change.
The max price for a Ronin should be $799. It is at a very competitive price point and a very good value for what you get.

I personally like the Ruger SR1911. The plunger tube is cast into the frame rather than staked. It will never get loose. Ruger Customer Service is second to none. They go out of their way to help. Finally, Ruger has no warranty at all. They simply rely in their reputation to "make it right", and back it with stunning service.

OP, Springfield out of your choices you mentioned, lifetime warranty if you need it, I have had Kimbers in the past and had issues with them.

Virgil Tripp is his name No issues with Ruger 1911's at all. We see many shot here. My STI warranty card has his name on it, along with Sandy Strayer. Zero Kimber's shot anymore seen, most that had them do not anymore.

I do respect the Ruger brand, my first time shooting any pistol was a Ruger .22 long pistol, the iconic one that looks like a Luger. I REALLY fell in love with the Ronin though.
Fake Rolexes, one kid in HS came to school with a fake Submariner, but the funniest thing was (this was in 1987) he put a used cellular phone in his car, but everyone KNEW it didn't work, so we'd just laugh at him! That was when cell phones were MEGGA status symbols! Now, everyone has one.

I have never heard of a Springfield "E Series". I know that Smith & Wesson has E Series 1911's..... Springfield Armory has one of the best warranties you can get on a firearm. It's a lifetime warranty to the original owner. I own 3 Springfield 1911's, all are fantastic.
Sorry! This is it:

I personally wouldn't worry one iota about a plastic trigger. A light weight trigger allows you to have a lighter trigger pull without getting trigger bounce. Not uncommon to find them in competition pistols where shooters are trying for sub two pound trigger pull.

My STI has a plastic trigger and has been shot almost weekly going on 15yrs Why worry on some that don't exist? So many 1st time 1911 owners buy one then start changing things, I never understood that. Just not good sense there. When we had our store we got many brought in for trade that were great firearms BEFORE the owner got it and lost $$$ in trades almost a weekly thing for awhile, most were no way as reliable as they were new. Then the buyers of a new one asking "what do I need to change?" Handwriting on the wall again.

I TOTALLY get it NOW! I am new to 1911's, and thought only "poly" striker fired guns had plastic triggers, and that, that might not be a good thing! Witness all the aftermarket "better" metal triggers for Glocks, etc. I never thought about competition shooting, and LIGHTWEIGHT triggers! But here's a question, why not carbon fiber triggers? Light as a feather, but STRONGER than a plastic trigger??? Just curious.
Thank you for educating me! I learn so much on this forum! WITHOUT feeling stupid for asking a question that doesn't make sense to me. Thanks!!

Had an STI plastic trigger installed with CS trigger parts into Kimber eclipse and have a great trigger at 2 lbs. Many years ago runs perfect, for range gun, too lite for carry. My STI trigger has a stainless trigger bow, never an issue. Good to go.
