Check out the S&W Pro Series 3 inch. I've had one for over 10 years in .45ACP and it has never had one issue. Takes all my Tripp, WC, McCormick mags and any ammo that hits the chamber. The SKU is 178020. I also bought a 6 pack of recoil springs from S&W and have only changed it out once as they are flat springs and last longer than the standard round piano type springs. This model has the Scandium frame and makes for a lighter carry gun. Shoots HST, Gold Dot, and any other premium self-defence rounds without issue. I'm aware of the decades old discussions that a 3 inch 1911 is unreliable but this one has NEVER had a malfunction, period. When carried, I have a standard 8 round magazine. Years ago I added a Wilson Combat magwell and blended it to the frame and it carries Pachmyer grips. I consider it the perfect carry and concealable 1911 with regards to weight and function. If you lean towards 9mm, it's available also with the SKU being 178053.
